Il potere della musica elettronica

Si intitola “Mercy” (FFRR/Warner) ed è il disco del momento, il più ascoltato dalle radio, nelle piattaforme streaming ed un po’ ovunque. Lo firma The Blessed Madonna, è co-prodotto con Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, si avvale del featuring di Jacob Lusk e del supporto vocale dell’House Gospel Club. “Mercy” sta facendo lo stesso percorso di “It Goes (Nanana)” di Peggy Gou. Due hit che provengono entrambe da altrettante dj: il potere sempre più inarrestabile della musica elettronica si evince anche e soprattutto da notizie come queste.

Classe 1977, nome all’anagrafe Marea Stamper, The Blessed Madonna è da anni un punto di riferimento non soltanto per quanto riguardi il djing ma anche e soprattutto per battaglie che da tempo si sono imposte per la loro centralità quali la parità di genere e le discriminazioni di ogni ordine e grado: anche per questo motivo ha preferito cambiare il suo nome d’arte, abbandonando l’alias The Black Madonna per diventare appunto The Blessed Madonna, in ossequio al politicamente corretto e alla cancel culture, che non sempre accompagnano le migliori intenzioni ai miglior risultati, come già in passato abbiamo avuto modo di sottolineare.

Il successo di “Mercy” non arriva certo per caso: negli anni The Blessed Madonna ha saputo affrontare il mainstream sempre a modo suo e sempre nel migliore dei modi, come dimostrano i suoi remix per The Chemical Brothers e Florence & The Machine e soprattutto le sue collaborazioni con Fred Again, Elton John, Dua Lipa, Madonna, Missy Elliot.

Il significato di “Mercy”

“Sono interessata alla dicotomia tra sacro e profano nel songwriting – ha spiegato The Blessed Madonna – Estasi e agonia: una canzone che parla di amore e di un cuore infranto può anche essere un brano spiritualmente profondo. L’amore è misericordia, Love is ‘Mercy’. E durante il processo lavorativo che ha portato alla realizzazione del brano con Jacob Lusk e gli altri, l’idea del brano è andata a poggiare le proprie radici esattamente in quel dolce spazio che è a cavallo tra la chiesa ed il dancefloor che stavo cercando. Infine questa è la mia idea di Dio: ossia quei momenti in cui siamo resi umili da un amore così grande che non sappiamo se esserne degni o addirittura degni dell’accettazione e misericordia che sentiamo nei nostri confronti”.
