Nel brano insieme a Bon Iver & Sampha c’è tanto di Travis, tra eccessi, lussi, rapporti interpersonali e sguardi attraverso gli occhi che portano chissà dove e a volte ti fanno annegare.

Non si poteva chiedere feat migliore per MY EYES. Il rapper di Houston ha scelto la band indie folk Bon Iver (quelli di Rosyln, Skinny Love, Wash, For Emma, per intenderci) e Sampha, cantante inglese già vincitore di premi prestigiosi e detentore di collaborazioni incredibili.

Solo Travis Scott poteva unire tre stili così differenti ma impercettibilmente così fusi insieme. MY EYES racconta di uno sguardo che parla e osserva: attraverso gli occhi si intrecciano i sentimenti e il viaggio verso il Paradiso a volte fa cadere, fino ad annegare. Una musica leggera, una musica delicata, che in breve lascia spazio a un Travis Scott incalzante. Si toccano i temi del lusso, dei beni materiali, del successo, tutte costanti nel mondo di Cactus Jack.

Non c’è solo questo, però: MY EYES passa attraverso i rapporti, i tradimenti, le difficoltà di stare a galla in un mondo ingannevole. Le connessioni diventano importanti, gli occhi lo specchio dell’anima, la consapevolezza del proprio “io” fondamentale. «Riesci a vedere la strada che coincide con la mia anima?» si chiede Travis Scott nell’apice del climax del brano. Una domanda che trasuda interrogativi sulla propria vita, conferme di un qualcosa che sente, desiderio di essere compreso attraverso i suoi mille tornanti.

Insomma, MY EYES parla di complessità emotiva, di lotte interne alla propria testa e al proprio corpo, del successo che porta confusioni oltre che a piccole felicità momentanee. La vita è fatta di alti e di bassi: attraverso gli occhi è importante scorgerne i pericoli, abbracciando sempre più profonde connessioni.
